‘Twas the shot heard ‘round the world. Trump, bloody-eared and half-tackled by his security, raised his fist and shouted, “Fight!” as the cameras clicked their places into American history.

Meanwhile, Biden can barely finish a sentence, and for some indiscernible reason, the Democratic Party closes ranks around him like he’s our only hope.

If you, like me, do not want Donald Trump to be the president, it seems you are in for a grim November, not to mention an even grimmer 2025.

The prospect of a second Trump presidency can understandably produce anxiety. The erosion of democracy on its own is enough to send us into a panic. Add to that the erosion of gay rights, abortion access and environmental protections, the vitriolic racism and xenophobia, and the emboldening of literal Nazis across the country, and you get a picture that is downright terrifying.

It’s only natural we feel anxious right now.

But the thing about chronic fear is, it can cause us to hyper-focus on the fearful. It can cause us to dwell on things we cannot control and ignore the things we can. The weight of it can…
