The 7 Pillars of a Strong Spiritual Practice

Keep these in balance as you journey deeper (especially #5!)

A spiritual journey is less like a single note than an eternal symphony. There are many aspects and practices that come together to guide the soul deeper, and taking the time to honor them all in their appropriate time and place is what cultivates a healthy, regenerative practice.

Often, we get stuck in our spiritual journeys when we rely too heavily on only one or a few aspects of spiritual development. We spend too much energy trying to cultivate ourselves and forget to accept and forgive ourselves, or we spiral too far into our own minds while forgetting to engage with the world around us. When this happens, it’s important to shift focus to another practice, and ensure you’re working to keep your own unique, dynamic balance on your journey.

Here are the seven components of spiritual development I think are the most essential to practice consistently:

1. Stillness

A spiritual practice is a journey towards consciousness and peace, and neither of those can arise without being given the space to do so.
