Yes this!! But also.. technology addiction runs sooo much deeper than just our phones. We’re addicted to rapid transportation, communication technology, war technology and war in general. We’re addicted to fossil fuels perhaps most obviously. We’re used to these things being normalized in our culture, but if there’s one thing my party-girl-coke-head era taught me, it’s that just because everyone around you is doing something doesn’t mean you’re not addicted. In fact, the collective addictions that get normalized are probably the most dangerous ones. My addiction to overconsumption relative to the carrying capacity of this planet is way the hell more destructive than smoking cigarettes ever could be.
